Lisa Schechter offers private and duo Pilates sessions.  A session is tailored to your individual fitness goals, strengths and weaknesses. Exercises are performed on the mat and Pilates equipment, including the reformer. Sessions last 55 minutes.

 

Pilates exercises help develop good posture and alignment, stability, balance, strength, flexibility, and flowing movement. Strength and flexibility of abdominal and back muscles are central to a Pilates program.  Pilates integrates the mind and body, teaching mental focus and control and coordination.  Pilates promotes both physical and mental rejuvenation. 

 

 In her teaching, Lisa uses the 3Core Connections®
Embodied Perspective. This perspective, developed by
Pilates and movement expert Wendy LeBlanc-Arbuckle,
teaches us that moving with whole body coordination
helps us move more efficiently and with decreased tension.
We become aware of how our breathing can support us.  We sense our relationships to gravity and space and explore how these relationships support our movement too.  We learn to appreciate the body’s own intelligence.  Our movement becomes energizing and joyful. 

 

Pilates sessions take place Goodman Physical Therapy in West Los Angeles.

 

Lisa is a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher.
 

 

    Buff Bones® Classes
Lisa Schechter is a licensed Buff Bones® instructor.  Buff Bones® is a workout which focuses on building muscle strength, bone health, balance and functional movement. The workout integrates Pilates, functional training, joint mechanics and bone research. The Buff Bones® is adaptable and is safe for people with osteoporosis. Exercises are performed standing and on a floor mat. Some standing exercises are performed using small free weights. The workout is performed in a one hour small group class or private lessons.The group class is appropriate for anyone who is mobile, has reasonable balance, and can get up and down from the floor. Private lessons with modified chair exercises are available for those who cannot get up and down from the floor.  Lisa regularly incorporates Buff Bones® exercises and principles into private Pilates sessions.
